Theme: “Life, The Law, and a Parallel Career.”

Speaker: Philip Simpson (Criminal Barrister)

Phil Simpson is a criminal Barrister. He has been a member of the Victorian Bar for over 20 years. Over his career, he has appeared for thousands of people charged with criminal offences.

Phil has, for many years, maintained a parallel career as he worked as a Primary School Chaplain within his local community. Over a period of 13 years, Phil immersed himself in the local Primary School where he supported staff, students and their families. Phil now splits his time between his Court appearance work and his role as a volunteer at The Shed Door.

The Shed Door is a registered charity that operates in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. Phil and a few close friends founded The Shed Door in response to the needs of individuals (particularly men) within the local community.

The Shed Door operates from a factory space in an Industrial estate in Mitcham. The factory space is the home for a variety of programs focused on the well-being of youth and young adults as well as men and their families. Phil is married with four children and loves  going on adventures with his family.

They travel as a family to participate in Mission work in The Philippines. This has become an annual event for Phil and his family. They often take other family groups as well as youth and young adults when they travel to The Philippines. Phil has a passion for cars and bikes and enjoys tinkering with some of his automotive projects. ===========================================================================================
