Theme: “My Journey Alongside Others”

Speaker: Adam Hince (Chaplain to Victoria Cricket)

Adam Hince is married to Anna, and they have 3 children. He is the Lead Pastor of Essendon Baptist Church.

Adam is also a Volunteer Chaplain to Cricket Victoria. He has filled this role since 2001 and enjoys it very much.

He doesn’t give advice on how to bat or bowl, but listens to cricketers and coaches talk about life – especially when life is not going well. He will be talking about how he has helped the team and players through storms, including the deaths of cricketers David Hookes and Phillip Hughes.

People like Adam help behind the scenes to keep teams and sports figures running by supporting their personal growth as they deal with stresses on and off the field.

“Whether it is grief counselling, running a parent workshop, leading a wedding/funeral, kicking balls at training and helping on game day – it is a huge privilege to be invited into the club’s workspace and contribute. Breaking down those opinions of Christians that players/staff previously had and being able to support them holistically is encouraging.”

“We regularly pray for opportunities and open doors to share our faith in our community. God is answering our prayers; the sporting doors are opening in our clubs right across the nation.  Our churches need to wake up to the need and invitation that is before us. The conversations are profound, and those pivotal moments of caring for someone in a time of need are powerful and often life-changing.

We are looking forward to Adam’s presentation and hope that we can encourage other men to attend.
